Imagining other worlds

The ‘imagining other worlds’ project is a unique collaboration between the association “De Oeverlanden Blijven!” and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam. Under the guidance of visual artist and guest lecturer Hannie van den Bergh, students from designLAB have spent the past ten weeks exploring the Oeverlanden nature park. They show new work inspired by this unique ecosystem.

The project focused on the question: How can Oeverlanden stories be created and told otherwise? During meetings with the nature caretakers, the soil dwellers, the activists, and the cruisers of the area, the students got to know the different forces and stories at play. In their artistic research, they discovered different perspectives to envision this ecosystem as a living being. A living being that is dynamic, breathes and has rights.

The exhibition shows eleven imaginative futures that tilt our emotions, stimulate our senses, sharpen our thoughts, and strengthen our connection with the Oeverlanden.
